If you’re like me, a bit on the small side, you may have the same problems I do with wrap dresses. They flap open in the front and won’t stay put. Maybe other’s have this problems as well. I’m just assuming it’s because I’m skinny. At any rate, what do you do to keep that dress or wrap shirt from flapping open all the time?
You can always pin it shut with a safety pin. I pinned mine with the safety pin head facing down so that wouldn’t show through at the top.
If that doesn’t work, try wearing a tank top underneath so you have something solid under the top if it does decide to open up in the front.
If you’re comfortable with one of those pretty bralette’s, wear that instead of the tank top.
Look for wrap dresses with straps attached that you can wrap around the back to tighten up the top so it doesn’t come open.
Try cinching it in with a belt. I noticed the one I had did have belt loops, but no belt. Someone gave it to me, so perhaps the belt went missing before then.
Or, like me, just never buy wrap dresses or shirts because you know you’re going to have this problem. Ha. But, since I was given this dress, I decided to give it a whirl. I feel like wrap dresses should come with a warning sign: “Big busted women only. Tiny ones need not try.” If you are a big busted woman who has problems with wrap dresses flapping open at the top or anywhere else. I would love to hear from you – just so I know there is more than one body type struggling to make this style of dress stay put.
Also, there are faux wrap dresses out there now, too. Where they look like they are wrap dresses, but are actually, in fact, sewn shut. Duh! Why don’t they make them all like this??? Seriously. I want to know.
