I’ve been on a bit of a thrift store kick lately. This is not normal for me. Usually I’d only drop in a Goodwill store once or twice a year, but I’ve been several times over the past month and a half.
It may have started when someone I was on the set of Shrill doing background acting work with mentioned that she wished she could remember the pattern for their half off colors. She had a friend who used to work for Goodwill, and had been told at some point what the pattern was but now she couldn’t remember anymore. Ha! I knew there was a pattern, but a friend told me they probably mix it up randomly when I mentioned they might have a pattern. So, off I’ve been for the past 6 weeks trying to crack the pattern for the half off merchandise.
The first week I went it was Blue, the next Green. I was sure it was backwards rainbow colors at this point, even thought there are no orange tags, but the next week the color was Purple. Then they went to Red, then yellow. And again, at this point, I was sure I knew which color was next because the only color left was pink. Nope. Wrong again. They skip pink entirely and then went right back to Blue. I’m guessing, since some of the pink tagged merchandise looks like brand new or name brand, they probably skip that color entirely and never put it on half off. So, there, I cracked the pattern. Next week will be green again. I know, any thrifty people out there will thank me later, right?
You’ll have to guess which items I got that were from Goodwill in this week’s outfit.
Here’s the scoop: the sweater was a Goodwill find for only $3.49 on a half off day for that color tag. The tassel earrings along with the little butterfly ones were also a Goodwill find for $2.49 for both pairs (together) on a half off day for their color tag. The brown puffer vest was given to me from a friend. The jeans were on clearance at Kohl’s. The socks were on clearance at Marshall’s, while the sunglasses were from Ross as well as the shoulder bag. The taupe combat boots were free – won in an affiliate marketing contest a few years ago with a company I work for. Also, the wedge sandals worn last week here were found at Goodwill for only $3.99 on a half off day for their color tag. The only question now is to see if I can stop going in there every week or if I’m addicted to thrifting at this point.
