How to wear hearts after Valentine’s day

Valentine’s day is over, but your love affair with hearts is not. What’s a girl to do? Never fear! This post will help you sneak hearts into your wardrobe all year round.

One way to wear hearts year round is to find a smaller more subtle heart pattern, like the chambray top I’m wearing below. From a distance, it looks like polka dots.

Another way to wear hearts is in your accessories. I have heart earrings and heart socks on as well. You could also wear necklaces, rings and bracelets with hearts or heart tights.

If you want to go big and bold, you could wear a top with a gigantic heart on it and layer a jacket or a blazer over it.

The same goes for a skirt or top. Wear a heart dress with a cute little cardigan. Or wear the skirt with a solid color top.

Those cute little sweaters with the heart patches on the elbow are also a good year round pick. Until it’s too warm to wear a sweater, that is.

And furthermore, why not wear a swimsuit with hearts in the summer with a cute cover-up?

Keep in mind, hearts aren’t  nearly as big of a no no after Valentine’s day as say, wearing Santa / Christmasey stuff is, so no worries if it’s after Valentine’s day and you still want to keep going with all the cute little heart clothing you own. Usually just toning it down a bit is enough to not look overly ‘Valentinesy’ after Valentine’s day.

Happy weekend everyone! Monday I start a new job as a medical assistant for a counseling office. I’ll be working with a couple of people I worked with at another counseling office. So excited to be working with them again! Wish me luck.

Crushing on crushed velvet

I’m loving all the crushed velvet that came in this season. It was everywhere! Even booties and purses were made with crushed velvet. How cute were those?

So, when I saw this cold shoulder crushed velvet top on clearance at Kohl’s, I just had to have it. Armed with a $5 off any purchase coupon and  30% off when you use your credit card, I went to make my purchase. It rang up at only $1.54. Score!

I also found a few things on the clearance racks at Marshall’s, but somehow they all ended up being more than the shirt. Odd when you can find stuff cheaper at a regular department store’s clearance racks than at a discount store’s clearance racks, but somehow, that’s how the cookie crumbled this time around.

I love good deals and I cannot lie.

Outfit recap:

Gray jacket, Goodwill, given to me by a friend. Tassel earrings, Cost Plus World Market, a Christmas gift, you can shop these here. Cat ear sunglasses, Marshall’s, a birthday gift. White choker necklace, old, worn at my sister’s wedding years ago. Crushed velvet top, Kohl’s clearance racks, Floral skirt, old, vintage Jay Jacobs. Betsey Johnson bow purse, here + fishnet tights, here, from Marshall’s clearance racks. Red suede booties, Sole Society, won in an influencer contest a few years ago. (Back before Pinterest tried to chase influencer’s off their website and then installed a new smart feed where now only a small percent of your followers actually see the stuff you post. I’d probably never be able to win anything the way Pinterest works now. Super frustrating! Down with the algorithms, I say!)

I’m loving that fishnets are coming back in again. Too fun!
