Coral pink + leggings for the new year

Happy New Year, everyone!

So far, we’re off to a good start. For those who make fitness resolutions, this outfit is for you! Ribbed side zip leggings + a coral pink top are an easy outfit to walk, run and exercise in. Possibly not the sweater if you’re at the gym, but you can easily add a tank top underneath and just take off the sweater for indoor exercising.

Coral pink sweater, Marshall’s; ribbed side zip leggings, gifted to me; puffer jacket, old; rose gold sunglasses, Marshall’s; bling sneakers, Ross.

I don’t personally make resolutions. I usually choose a word for the year. I can’t for the life of me remember what I chose last year. I didn’t write it down anywear.

This year, I choose hope.

Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.”  ~ Emily Dickinson

On one hand, hope seems like a small, humble word. I had a lot of hope that stronger words like faith and miracles would save my mom from cancer. I tried to have faith that would move mountains as we got nearer to the end of her life. All the faith and miracle prayers did nothing. So I’m taking a step back. To hope.

Hope is the flame that springs eternal. Giving way to bigger words like ‘Faith’ and ‘Miracle’. But first, you have to have hope.

I think somewhere along the way, losing my mom, and then the year of Covid began – a lot of us lost hope.

This year, let’s go back to the basics and have hope.

Hope that we will rise from the ashes. Not just to rise up, but to soar through this new year. I believe I picked the phrase ‘Rise up’ for 2021. And it seemed like mostly I barely got up, flying low like a chicken frantically flapping my wings and attempting to gain air. Unable to soar with the eagles.

Isaiah 61:3 …to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of despair.

Let this be the year that we have hope God will give us a crown of beauty in place of the ashes that have accumulated since 2020. Let us have hope that this year we will not only rise up, but that we will soar!
