How to wear ponchos in the spring

We see ponchos more in the fall than in the spring, but they are a great staple to any wardrobe in the in-between seasons like spring or fall. It’s usually too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer for them, unless they are really lightweight. Here are some tips for wearing them in spring.

Gray and white colorblock poncho, White House Black Market, given to me; Velvet jeans, Ann Taylor Loft; Rose gold clutch, old, Marshall’s; Heart sunglasses, Ross; Chandelier earrings, old; Leopard print flats, Ross.

Lighten up the colors. Wear softer tones than you would in the fall.

Wear a sweater underneath for cooler weather. Lighten up what you wear underneath as the weather gets warmer.

Wear your poncho with a collared shirt. That wouldn’t work with the poncho I have in these shots because it has a big bulky collar, but it would work on some of my light weight ponchos.

Wear a poncho with skinny jeans for a casual look.

Add a pop of color like these bright berry pink velvet pants from Ann Taylor Loft.

Stand amidst the flowers so you look very springy. Haha.

Wear a fluffy infinity scarf if your poncho doesn’t have a collar and it’s still cold outside.

Hook it over a finger and sling it over your shoulder if it gets too warm out.

Wear a belt over it. This only works if it’s a long poncho and works better if it’s not too thick and bulky.

Pair your poncho with leggings and boots.

Just have fun with it!

Happy Palm Sunday everyone! Stay healthy. Stay safe. It’s a crazy world out there right now.
