Going down in blaze of glory

What better way to look casually preppy or preppy casual than to wear a blazer and jeans. Amirite? It’s a casually cool and comfortable look.

Striped blazer, given to me; ruffled button up tee, given to me; ripped jeans, old; backpack purse, old; black cat eye sunglasses, Rue21; red floral necklace, Anne Taylor Loft; red chandelier earrings, old; sketchers, Ross.

A friend gave me a bag of clothes a month ago and since then discovered she has leukemia. Please send prayers!

Today I styled and photographed some outfits put together with things she gave me plus some of my own stuff.  (Just one featured today.)

Before fall is totally gone, I had to get in a bit of leaf throwing!

Yep. I’m a dork. And I’m okay with that. Then just like that, back to smooth jazz, real cool…

Thank you for stopping by, and happy leaf throwing!

Two ways to style a striped tunic

With a couple of quick changes, this outfit can be dressed up or down. If you’re at work, or out and about on a weekend and need to switch to a more dressy look without stopping at home again –  here are a couple of things you can bring with you for a quick day to night change.

White House | Black Market striped tunic top, gifted to me; White stretchy pants, Kohl’s; White belt with double hearts, c/o Dresslily; Hot pink Kate Spade New York Sam handbag, c/o; Heart necklace, old; Heart sunglasses, Ross; Wedge sandals, Rue21; View of the Columbia River Gorge with Crown Point / Vista House, priceless.

I started out with no belt, a denim jacket and flat leopard print Sam Edelman sandals for a more casual day look.

I brought with me my cute little double heart belt from Dresslily, now sold out. (More heart belts here.)   And I brought a pair of wedge sandals. Then I ditched the jacket. That’s it. Super quick day to night change.

Then we tried to find a place with no people. Despite the threat of Covid19, that was actually pretty hard to do considering it was late morning by the time we set out on a nice cool summery weekend day. We ended up finding a place at the end of the Portland Women’s Forum with people further away, but a snake in the bushes. Oh my. Let’s see how fast I can walk in my wedge sandals on uneven ground to get away once I spotted a snake slithering into the bushes. I didn’t run, but got away pretty fast, I must say.

I hope you all are staying safe out there and avoiding crowds like the plague just as we are doing. We even decided as a family not to go out to Michigan for the interment of my moms ashes this week due to Covid. Too much of a risk and we already lost one family member this year. Here’s to being safe and keeping the other family members alive and kicking if at all possible!
