That moment the weather starts turning, and everybody collectively swarms outside on the first nice spring days… Today was one of those days. Sure, the flowers have been blooming for weeks now, but it’s been way too cold to want to go out and really enjoy them. And then, nice weather hits and you find yourself outdoors with the whole rest of the world, or so it seems – all escaping the confines of four walls to enjoy sunshine & gentle breezes on our now pasty white skin. Sure, in Oregon, it’s still like walking through a swamp if you can’t find any high ground, but we don’t care. We need to get out, and out we all go. Spring fever is upon us!
Have you ever taken a walk in the winter time and noticed all of the lovely dead crap out there? Yep. You heard me right. Lovely. Dead. Crap. On first glance, it looks brown and ugly, and some of it really is, but if you stop to look, some of it is actually quite beautiful. And I’m one of those people who stops to take photos of it. You may think I’m the only one, but there is actually a lovelydeadcrap hashtag on Instagram, and a hub that reposts photos people tag of their lovely dead crap. I’m not kidding you. Check it out: lovelydeadcrap You can also check out my Instagram gallery: 1murtle where I not only post photos of lovely dead crap, but also post lots of nature photos and cat photos. Beauty can be found even in the bleakest days of winter. You’d be amazed by the beauty you can find when nothing is blooming – if only you take time to look.
