How to wear ponchos in the spring

We see ponchos more in the fall than in the spring, but they are a great staple to any wardrobe in the in-between seasons like spring or fall. It’s usually too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer for them, unless they are really lightweight. Here are some tips for wearing them in spring.

Gray and white colorblock poncho, White House Black Market, given to me; Velvet jeans, Ann Taylor Loft; Rose gold clutch, old, Marshall’s; Heart sunglasses, Ross; Chandelier earrings, old; Leopard print flats, Ross.

Lighten up the colors. Wear softer tones than you would in the fall.

Wear a sweater underneath for cooler weather. Lighten up what you wear underneath as the weather gets warmer.

Wear your poncho with a collared shirt. That wouldn’t work with the poncho I have in these shots because it has a big bulky collar, but it would work on some of my light weight ponchos.

Wear a poncho with skinny jeans for a casual look.

Add a pop of color like these bright berry pink velvet pants from Ann Taylor Loft.

Stand amidst the flowers so you look very springy. Haha.

Wear a fluffy infinity scarf if your poncho doesn’t have a collar and it’s still cold outside.

Hook it over a finger and sling it over your shoulder if it gets too warm out.

Wear a belt over it. This only works if it’s a long poncho and works better if it’s not too thick and bulky.

Pair your poncho with leggings and boots.

Just have fun with it!

Happy Palm Sunday everyone! Stay healthy. Stay safe. It’s a crazy world out there right now.

Fall time is Poncho time!

I’m seeing so many ponchos for sale in the stores and online right now. It totally reminded me it’s time to drag out my poncho before the weather gets too cold for wearing them. Fall time is definitely poncho time. Not sure why spring isn’t also a big poncho wearing season. Perhaps if they just brought ponchos out in spring colors it could be a thing. Let’s make that happen come spring!

We took these photos last week when I was just starting to have a pain flare-up at the base of my spine. At some point I sat down on the ground and was so stiff I wondered if I was going to be able to get up again. Ha. I did. The pain was only about at a five out of ten, so I was still smiling through the pain at that point. A few hours later and I wouldn’t even have been able to do the photo shoot. Such is my life now…

I hope you all are enjoying the fall weather. It has started to rain more around here and those pretty fall leaves are getting pummeled off the trees. Sad. Winter is coming. Boo. In the meantime, here’s to ponchos!
