How to wear ponchos in the spring

We see ponchos more in the fall than in the spring, but they are a great staple to any wardrobe in the in-between seasons like spring or fall. It’s usually too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer for them, unless they are really lightweight. Here are some tips for wearing them in spring.

Gray and white colorblock poncho, White House Black Market, given to me; Velvet jeans, Ann Taylor Loft; Rose gold clutch, old, Marshall’s; Heart sunglasses, Ross; Chandelier earrings, old; Leopard print flats, Ross.

Lighten up the colors. Wear softer tones than you would in the fall.

Wear a sweater underneath for cooler weather. Lighten up what you wear underneath as the weather gets warmer.

Wear your poncho with a collared shirt. That wouldn’t work with the poncho I have in these shots because it has a big bulky collar, but it would work on some of my light weight ponchos.

Wear a poncho with skinny jeans for a casual look.

Add a pop of color like these bright berry pink velvet pants from Ann Taylor Loft.

Stand amidst the flowers so you look very springy. Haha.

Wear a fluffy infinity scarf if your poncho doesn’t have a collar and it’s still cold outside.

Hook it over a finger and sling it over your shoulder if it gets too warm out.

Wear a belt over it. This only works if it’s a long poncho and works better if it’s not too thick and bulky.

Pair your poncho with leggings and boots.

Just have fun with it!

Happy Palm Sunday everyone! Stay healthy. Stay safe. It’s a crazy world out there right now.

Super soft chenille sweater

This chenille sweater, you guys. So soft. I walked by it on a clearance rack at Charlotte Russe, it looked soft, so I reached out and touched it. Or the pink version of this sweater. I immediately picked it up.Then traded it for the blue when I realized I already have a soft pink sweater.  It was an additional 40% of the clearance price, so I got it for a little over $7. Score! I love getting a good deal on anything. Clearance racks are my jam!

This is not the first time I’ve walked by something made from a super soft material and immediately knew I had to have it. If it looks soft, I have to feel the softness. If it’s on someone I may even ask if I can touch it. Can’t. Resist. Softness. My poor soft kitties know this. They see me coming and run. Well, maybe not the bigger of the two kitties, she’s too lazy to run, but the other one does. They are softness personified.

Does anyone else do this with things that look soft? Or am I the only one? I can’t be the only one. Somebody out there also reaches out to touch soft looking things. I just know it.

It has been super cold this week, and for some reason, we ended up by the river in Troutdale taking these photos. Even colder there with the wind whipping down the river. I am so ready for winter to be over. Just say no to snow from now on out! March starts tomorrow and I’m asking the snow to please go away now. Spring is almost here. The time for snow is passing. Move along already.

Since this chenille sweater is on clearance, I’ve linked up a couple more that look just like it below.
