How to style a wrap dress if you’re petite

If you’re like me, a bit on the small side, you may have the same problems I do with wrap dresses. They flap open in the front and won’t stay put. Maybe other’s have this problems as well. I’m just assuming it’s because I’m skinny. At any rate, what do you do to keep that dress or wrap shirt from flapping open all the time?

You can always pin it shut with a safety pin. I pinned mine with the safety pin head facing down so that wouldn’t show through at the top.

If that doesn’t work, try wearing a tank top underneath so you have something solid under the top if it does decide to open up in the front.

If you’re comfortable with one of those pretty bralette’s, wear that instead of the tank top.

Look for wrap dresses with straps attached that you can wrap around the back to tighten up the top so it doesn’t come open.

Try cinching it in with a belt. I noticed the one I had did have belt loops, but no belt. Someone gave it to me, so perhaps the belt went missing before then.

Or, like me, just never buy wrap dresses or shirts because you know you’re going to have this problem. Ha. But, since I was given this dress, I decided to give it a whirl. I feel like wrap dresses should come with a warning sign: “Big busted women only. Tiny ones need not try.” If you are a big busted woman who has problems with wrap dresses flapping open at the top or anywhere else. I would love to hear from you – just so I know there is more than one body type struggling to make this style of dress stay put.

Also, there are faux wrap dresses out there now, too. Where they look like they are wrap dresses, but are actually, in fact, sewn shut. Duh! Why don’t they make them all like this??? Seriously. I want to know.

Old Navy Holiday Sales

What I love about Old Navy is that there are so many different patterns and designs to choose from for each item. I chose different ones for my collage above to highlight than the ones in my widget below. They are the same price point, but different examples of patterns / designs available. You’ll just have to click on the item you like below and it will take you to the website where you can see all the many designs you can pick from. Some had 2-3, others had 10 or more to choose from. What I like about all the different varieties is that we are all different and like different things.Yeah, choices!

For instance, I know llamas are pretty in right now for the teen and pre-teen crowd, so the llama tee and pajama bottoms are perfect for my nieces. One of them also likes pandas, so the panda hat might be a fun choice, too. My nephew on the other hand is into spaceships – and especially Star Wars, so a Star Wars top would be a better choice for him than one of The Flash. But for me as an adult, I thought the Merry Everything top was cute, or the Baby It’s Cold Outside one, which I liked just a little better because it works for all of winter, and I liked the subtle color pattern on it. If you know the style the person you’re shopping for likes, you can choose what’s just right for them. If not, they can always exchange it for another pattern/style after Christmas.
